English Partridge in the field

Castle Game – Partridges and pheasants for Game Shooting

As an adventurous, entrepreneurial 18-year-old Paul started rearing partridges and selling eggs. With decades of experience and hundreds of happy customers Paul and Jo continue to build on their success.

Based in the depths of the rural Suffolk countryside their farm is dedicated to rearing the best game birds for gamekeepers and landowners across the UK.

From Cornwall to Scotland the team have supplied partridge and pheasant eggs, chicks and poults to support the history and heritage of country pursuits.

For centuries, the partridge and pheasant have been an integral part of the British landscape and its rural traditions. The common pheasant, with its iridescent plumage and distinctive crowing call, was introduced to the British Isles by the Romans, but it was the Normans who truly established it as a popular game bird. The grey partridge, a native bird to the UK, has graced our fields for millennia. These birds are not just wildlife; they are living links to our agrarian past, deeply woven into the fabric of British culture and folklore.

The tradition of game shooting, a practice stretching back for hundreds of years, has been a key driver in the conservation and management of these species. Far from being a modern pastime, it is a practice steeped in history, connecting generations of land managers and enthusiasts to the rhythm of the seasons. Today, shoots are a cornerstone of the rural economy, providing employment and supporting local businesses in communities across the country.

Our commitment to producing high-quality hatching eggs for these magnificent birds is a part of this enduring legacy. We understand the importance of healthy, strong chicks to ensure a sustainable future for game shooting and to preserve the iconic sight and sound of the partridge and pheasant in the British countryside for generations to come.
